It is a place of cloud forest and coffee plantations, monkeys, fog, and friendly people. The town of Monteverde is small and picturesque, full of tasty restaurants and craft shops, while the nearby jungle is home to a remarkable amount of biodiversity. Due to its great height - about 1,440 m above sea level - Monteverde has the privilege of receiving a constant supply of clouds and the life-giving moisture they contain. This moisture, often in the form of fog, is captured by the branches of the tallest trees and this water drips to the other organisms below. This helps to maintain a complex and stable ecosystem, which houses more than 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of species of insects, and more than 2,500 varieties of plants, 420 of which are orchids. In the list of 100 places to remember before they disappear, Monteverde appears as the number 14 in America. It has also been considered as one of the Seven Wonders of Costa Rica by the popular vote, and has been called by National Geographic "the crown jewel of cloud forest reserves." Visitors can explore this internationally recognized environment of trails and roads, along with canopy tours, suspension bridges and nature museums inside. It is advisable to spend at least a couple of days of adventure in this green and mountainous world.
I love the rainforest, Costa Rica is unique.
The best experience of my life.
